It was a weekend Amaal Mallik expected to be a memorable one, but it ended up being tainted by an injury. On Friday, he took the stage in Allahabad at Shambhunath College — and over 7,000 students showed up to catch his act. And suffer an injury, due to the over-enthusiasm of some fans. However, the singer-composer plays down the incident, saying, “It was unfortunate that I hurt myself while signing autographs and clicking selfies. But I’m getting better and should be fit in no time!” It was reported that his fans “jumped on him”. He admits that they did it “purely out of love and excitement” and that he doesn’t blame them. Who he does blame, is the security at the event. “The security wasn’t up to the mark,” he tells us. It was also reported that he suffered a fresh knee injury as a result of the commotion. He tells us, “I already have a ligament and meniscus tear in my left knee due to an eight-year-old football injury and this one happened with my right foot. My foot landed wrong due to the commotion and due to the fences getting breached. It then got stepped on by the audience and it got really badly sprained and swollen. Luckily, it’s not a fracture but it’s a bad muscle injury, but no tear, thankfully.”
