Open Road Films announced that it will release the film adaptation of journalist Maziar Bahari's book on November 7, reported Digital Spy.

Bahari's 2011 memoir 'Then They Came for Me' details his imprisonment by Iran's Revolutionary Guard during 2009 election protests in Tehran. The journalist was held in captivity and tortured for more than 100 days for sending video footage of the riots to the BBC.

Stewart was an advocate for the Tehran-born Canadian journalist during his imprisonment, and later invited him on The Daily Show to tell his story. Bahari is portrayed in Rosewater by BAFTA Award-nominated actor Gael Garcia Bernal.

Stewart took a hiatus from The Daily Show last summer to shoot Rosewater in Jordan. He has also written the screenplay.
