The world expected JJ Abrams and the rest of the team working on the new film to announce some more information about the cast. Of course the primary casting has already been done, but there are still several slots left to fill.

Instead, Abrams and co-writer/producer Lawrence Kasdan uploaded a 'video selfie' wishing everyone a Happy Star Wars Day. The video didn't really give away any casting details, both men just expressed that they missed their families. But they did say that more casting is on the way.

Apart from this 'video selfie' surfacing, the hashtag #MayThe4thBeWithYou was trending all over social media.

Along with the eruption on social media, StarWars.com, on May 4, also released a wide number of tie merchandise and promotional material:

* First look at comic books and graphic novels

* Star Wars Greeting Cards
