In the latest course of events, Sooraj wrote a letter to the Juhu Police Station, CBI and the Commissioner of Police of Mumbai,10 days ago, informing them about some fresh evidence that they have come across in the case.

According to a report in The Times of India, a few weeks ago Sooraj and his lawyer came to know that a London-based businessman by the name of D Bloom had written to the Mumbai Police way back in February 2015, intimating them that his son had faced similar accusations by Jiah's family in 2001.

According to the report, Jiah was 14 back then and her mother had accused the tycoon's son of sexually assaulting Jiah. However, his son was reportedly acquitted by trial in London court as there was substantial evidence of the duo being in a consensual romantic relationship. The report further says that the London police had documented evidence that Jiah had attempted suicide by slitting her wrist.

While Sooraj declined to comment on the matter, his lawyer Prashant Patil revealed to the daily, "In the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court judgements, it was noted that if a suicide victim suffers from any hypersensitive tendency, it needs to be brought to the Court's notice. In three years she has never in a single statement said that Jiah had attempted suicide thrice before. We have documented evidence of the same, which we will be producing before the Court. We have never intervened during the investigation and done our best to be supportive and let law take its course. But for a fair trial, the whole truth should be out. We object to the fact that Rabia did not come clean on her side of the story,“

The Jiah Khan case has been making headlines from the very first day owing to a number of reasons including contradictory charges levied by Jiah's mother Rabia.

Initially, Rabia had called for a charge under section 306 (abetment of suicide) on the basis of Jiah's suicide letter but later on changed her stance bny asking tto file the case under section 302 (punishment for murder).

Patil added that Mr D Bloom is willing to come down and record his statement with the Mumbai Police, the report says. Patil says that according to Bloom, Rabia would leave her daughters alone in London and stay away from home for days at stretch.

"In fact, transcripts also reveal that when Jiah was a minor, she had undergone an abortion. These are details documented in the transcripts that are in his possession. It is unfortunate that the Mumbai Police ignored that mail in 2015,“ Patil tells TOI.

Bloom's documents are supposed to be presented before the court at the next hearing.

On being questioned about Rabia facing perjury charges if found guilty of suppressing information, or can allege them with a defamation case against the dead, Patil said, "We are not trying to defame the dead. Under the Evidence Act, we have every right to file additional evidence that could give some context to the case. We don't want trial by media. It is eventually up to the court to decide whether the information is of any relevance here."

When Rabia was contacted by TOI to comment on the same, she said, "All these allegations are baseless....I am seriously contemplating legal action against the people responsible. Besides this, I have no other comment to make.“

It is notable that June 3, 2016 clocked three years of Jiah Khan's death anniversary.
