Jared Leto of Thirty Seconds to Mars wants more women to join music industry

Singer-actor Jared Leto says he wants to see more women working in the music industry, both on stage and off.

The "Thirty Seconds to Mars" frontman said there is "disproportionate amount of talent" in the music industry.

"I would say it's a selfish thing because I realised that half the population of the world has probably a disproportionate amount of the talent. I grew up with a single mom who was really hard working. She put herself through college and nursing school. I recognise the value of people. And there absolutely needs to be more women on the road," Leto said.

The singer said he makes sure that there is a "really professional environment" backstage at his shows.

"Ah, I haven't thought about that before. We have a really professional environment, as you see backstage. You'll see a little bit of water and some muesli and people working really hard," he added. 

Titled AMERICA, this new album has 12 songs. It features big names of EDM including Zedd, Yellow Claw, and KillaGraham. 

Zedd produced a track titled Dangerous Night. KillaGraham and Yellow Claw worked on 'Rescue Me' and 'Hail toe the Victor.'

Apart from these music producers, the album features collaborations with hip-hop artist A$AP Rocky and pop singer Halsey.

AMERICA marks return of Thirty Seconds to Mars after a gap of five years. During this time, Jared Leto was part movies like Suicide Squad, Blade Runner 2049, and Dallas Buyers Club for which he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

After the album promotion tour, which is called 'Mars Across America,' Leto is expected to begin work on solo Joker movie and a Harley Quinn spin-off.
