It was like doing a play: Shabana Azmi

Shabana Azmi who turned a year older a couple of days ago is embracing a new medium, the TV. She will be seen playing a anti-terrorism unit chief in the upcoming thiller series 24, an adaptation of the hit international show. The veteran actress, who plays a cameo says that the experience of shooting for the TV show was good but strenuous.  “I had to learn long lines. It was like doing a play and the first couple of days were gruelling but challenging,” she says.

Does that mean we will see her more on TV shows. “That depends on the project. I can’t say anything right now,” she adds. The reason she agreed to do 24 was because she and Anil Kapoor go back a long way. “We’ve known each other for 30 years. Also, the fact that Anil had got the rights for a globally known show meant that quality was a given. Also, the role of a no-nonsense woman that I play in the series is something that I have never done either in films or plays,” elaborates Shabana.
