It's all in the family

After endorsing brands with their spouses, lovers or co-stars, celebrities are now doing commercials with their parents. A lowdown...

Deepika Padukone recently shared screen space with her mother, Ujjala in the latest Tanishq TVC for Mother's Day. Though Dippy has been spotted at a lot of events with her parents, this was the first time her camera-shy mother decided to make an exception and face the archlights. And what a debut it has been. The ad managed to strike a chord with the audience and full points to Deepika for playing the perfect daughter every mother would want.

Anil Kapoor and his darling daughter Sonam were the brand ambassadors of Montblanc, a luxury brand that rolled out it's first ad campaign in 2009. The campaign saw the two come together for the first time in this pen ad where the message being conveyed is that it's not just a pen but heritage or legacy that is passed on from generations to generations. Though it was the first and last time the two came together on screen, we think the father-daughter jodi is quite a hit.

Neetu Singh and daughter Riddhima made for a classic combination as they featured in an ad together for Mahesh Notandass, a fine jewellery brand from Mumbai. Considering Riddhima has always been camera-shy, it was a casting coup of sorts when the brand managed to convince the mother-daughter duo to get in front of the camera. The duo painted a perfect picture of elegance and sophistication.

Hema Malini is probably one of the few yesteryear actress who has managed to get both her daughters – Esha and Ahana to face the camera together. Though Esha and Hema were used to the limelight, Ahana was a shy kid who ran away from the world of glitz and glamour. Hema got Ahana and Esha to star with her in the Kent water purifier advertisement. Unfortunately, that was the only time Ahana was spotted on screen.

Sonakshi Sinha and Poonam Sinha were seen endorsing a new and improved range of facial bleaches for Fem, Dabur in 2012. The campaign shows the mother-daughter duo share a special bond, much like how Sona and her mum are in real life. After her mother, Sonakshi should now probably get her father, Shatrughan Sinha to star in an ad with her.

Yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore shared sharing screen space with daughter Soha Ali Khan for a jewellery brand – Gitanjali Group for their Nizam collection that spelled royalty. The Pataudi family's mother-daughter duo was seen urging the audience to check for diamond certification before they invested their money in the precious stone.

Along with Neetu and Riddhima, father-son Rishi and Ranbir Kapoor also made an appearance for a commercial together. The Pepsi commercial, shows Rishi dismissing his son's chances of becoming a 'Crorepati' while Ranbir, who plays a laidback youngster has a plan of this own. A couple of years later, Ranbir managed to get both his parents to play his reel-life parents in his film, Besharam.

It was in the year 2001 that Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek made their first appearance in an ad together. The father-son duo were roped in as the brand ambassadors of Versa, the then multipurpose vehicle from Maruti. Emphasising heavily on tall people and the fact that a single vehicle was comfortable enough to accomodate the number of people in two cars, the commercial saw Abhishek taking his father out for a spin in his new car and the two indulging in friendly banter.

Internationally, Jennifer Lopez and her two-year-old twins, Max and Emme, starred in acampaign for Gucci's new children's line to benefit UNICEF's Schools for Africa programme.
