An ISIS suspect was detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Kolkata on Friday.

The suspect identified as Asif Ahmed is a student of Polytechnic College and a resident of Kaksa in Burdwan district in West Bengal. He has been brought to NIA’s zonal office in Kolkata from Burdwan. 

Ahmed is being questioned by senior officers of NIA to establish his links with the ISIS. 

“We are questioning him and exploring all angles. We are exercising our powers under the 161 CrPC to question him and cannot divulge much detail,” said a senior officer of NIA. 

Sources in the NIA reveal that Ahmed could be arrested later in the day.
