If all goes well, Kareena Kapoor would be playing the role of Jessica Lall on screen. The actor has been approached by Raj Kumar Gupta who directed Aamir last year.

Gupta says, “I have approached Kareena and she has the script with her. But she is yet to get back to me. So, nothing has been finalised yet. I hope she agrees to do the role.”
Model Jessica Lall was gunned down at a New Delhi restaurant in April 1999.

The movie will focus on two female characters – Jessica and her sister Sabrina, who fought for justice.

“I have finished the script recently. The story of the movie is inspired by a headline in a major newspaper,” says Gupta, adding, “It’s won’t be on the lines of a documentary. It will be a commercial feature film.”

About the Jessica Lall case
Jessica Lall was shot dead at Tamarind Court Café in south Delhi on April 29, 1999. The incident occurred after she reportedly refused to serve liquor to Manu Sharma, the son of politician, Vinod Sharma. The acquittal of the accused led to widespread public outcry for a re-trial of the case. Following this, the prosecution appealed and the Delhi HC conducted proceedings on a fast track court over 25 days. The lower court judgment was found faulty, and Manu Sharma was found guilty of having murdered Jessica. He was sentenced to life in Dec 2006.
