Sonam Kapoor, who plays braveheart air-hostess Neerja Bhanot who lost her life trying to save the lives of passengers on board a hijacked PanAm flight in the biopic, Neerja, will be flying to Chandigarh to attend the The Neerja Bhanot Award event, held on January 13 each year. She will be accompanied by director Ram Madhvani and producer Atul Kasbekar.

The award of recognition is conferred up to once a year by the The Neerja Bhanot Pan Am Trust in India to an Indian woman subjected to social injustice, who faces the situation with grit and determination and extends help to other women in similar distress. It carries a cash prize of `1.5 lakh, a citation and a trophy. Sonam was very keen on being a part of the ceremony.

Ram shares, “It is going to be an emotional and very special memory. Saluting her and all the other brave hearts on whom the award has been conferred.”
