Imposter uses Sonam's picture to lure friends on fake profile of Anil Kapoor
A fake profile of actor Anil Kapoor has been opened on a social networking site; imposter is using his daughter Sonam’s picture to lure people to accept friend requests.
Actor Anil Kapoor is being impersonated on Facebook with the fake person even putting up a picture of his daughter, actor Sonam Kapoor along with Anil’s to lure people to add the impersonator on their friend list. Sources say that the fake account holder is randomly sending friend requests to people to get access to their profiles. Celebrities and celebrity journalists are often potential targets because it is through them that the person can get access to other celebrities.
“The account came up last week and since then the fake person has been sending out friend requests. Many have added the person too thinking that the impersonator was the real actor,” says a highly placed source adding, “What is amazing is the timeliness of this fake account. Anil has produced a film with his daughter in the lead that has released this Friday and to the industry it is coming across that Anil has finally joined Facebook because it is timely to also promote the film. The picture that has been used as the profile image is a special picture that they might have shot for a prestigious newspaper or a magazine.”
An official working with Anil confirmed to DNA that the actor is neither on Facebook nor on Twitter. We also hear that Anil is looking into the matter and might seek help to pull the plug on this imposter.
