She was one of the reigning stars of Bollywood, she owned a cricket team, she also made headlines with controversies and legal battles. Now, putting all that behind her, actress Preity Zinta is back in a sleek avatar (she has lost 10kg) with her new film Ishkq in Paris. In a free-wheeling chat, Preity tells it like it is... Since you have been here and seen it all, do you think you still have a point to prove? It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have achieved, one should set a goal for themselves. Every journey has a new learning. I always wanted to prove things to myself and do things that are different. My mum says I am a bad genie that needs to be kept busy (laughs). How is it being a producer?I believe in my film. This is a small thing and I believe one should start with small things and then go for bigger ones, otherwise it can take you down like quicksand. With small things, if it doesn’t work out at least you won’t wonder, so that way it was a very calculated risk. Nothing was more stressful than the T20 cricket season… that magnitude of money, then one drama after the other…Your friend Salman Khan has done a cameo in your film. What about your other buddy actor Shah Rukh Khan?To be honest, Shah Rukh (Khan) has always supported me and I really appreciate that. But initially, I had gone with the script to Salman and he said yes. Shah Rukh was not around at that time, but of course I will take some suggestions from him, specially in terms of marketing because he is a marketing genius! You also managed to get filmmaker Shekhar Kapur to act in your film...It was a surreal experience. I was so happy to have him on board. My journey in this industry began with him, so it was fitting that he feature in my first production. Shekhar is amazing, he is the most chilled out guy.So what next? Any plans of returning to TV? I haven’t thought of it. Nothing new as such. I will soon be working on Bhaiyyaji Superhitt. Then I am getting into a new venture, but I can’t talk about it yet. Let’s hope it works out. After this I simply want to go on a holiday. Not get up in the morning, sleep for two-three days. I just want to relax and come back after which I will be on a roll again.Once your competition, actress Rani Mukerji, is also making a comeback at the same time..I wish her all the best. I think there is enough for all of us here to do. I want to go forward in life by raising the bar, I don’t want to go ahead by saying nasty things about others. People used to say whichever movie you and Rani do together, they become big hits. Now both our movies are coming close to each other and I am sure that both of us will do well. On the personal front, any plans of settling down any time soon?Of course, I would like to get married but everything has a time and place. No point in making plans.
