Singer Sukhwinder Singh, who celebrated his birthday two days ago, has an interesting resolution — to get married within the next year. “Next year on my birthday I want to have my wife by my side,” he says, “Not necessarily a singer but just a beautiful-minded girl.”

And guess what, as soon as the singer got vocal about his birthday wish, he’s been bombarded with gazillion proposals from girls with their bio-datas. “You won’t believe, I got countless messages and mails from girls with details like name, caste, age, profession,” reveals Sukhwinder as he breaks into laughter. “I was kind of scared suddenly with such a flood of proposals,” he adds. “It was my yoga guru who told me that it’s time now I should stop flirting (smiles) and settle down. All my friends are married too...so I think it’s my turn now.” In fact, he plans to go touring the country searching for the right girl.

Sukhwinder who composed a birthday song for his birthday, says that he will be releasing it soon. “I had composed this song and I wanted my friend to sing on my birthday…but he did not. So imagine, I had to sing it myself (laughs),” says the singer who is now looking at composing music for films too. 

The Chak De hitmaker — who has been in the news for his songs in recent films like Bol Bachchan, Ek Tha Tiger, Kya Cool Hain Hum — credits his success to his dedication to music. “I make sure I study the character I sing for. Most of the times, I don’t even know who is the actor is for the song…I think it helps me perform better. I just know the character and I sing for it,” says Sukhwinder.Associated with hits like Chaiya Chaiya, Dil Se, etc, Sukhwinder is a  hardcore fan of Mexican music. “I love Mexican food, music, culture, films…just about everything. And I never end my day without watching a Mexican film,” he ends.
