Tell comedian Cyrus Sahukar that DNA wants a serious interview with him, and the funny seemed more than keen to give in to our request. “Many would be surprised to know that there is an incredibly serious side to me and I'm quite a dork,” says Cyrus who spends most of his free time following world politics and even watching news documentaries. In fact, at one point of his life, Cyrus even wanted to make a documentary on the dark side of popular comedian’s lives. “I had done a study on world famous comedians and came up with interesting trivia. Charlie Chaplin had a tragic childhood, Peter Sellers was bi-polar and even Jim Carey had a traumatised childhood. I think most comedians try to use humour as a shield to block away bad instances in life,” says Cyrus.

Talking about his personal life, Cyrus says, “I was a very shy teenager. My parents separated when I was very young and I grew up in a family surrounded with women who would always wonder why I was so strange," says Cyrus with a smile adding that comedy is the most beautiful gift he considers himself to possess. Cyrus, who will soon be seen in a movie alongside the likes of Sonam Kapoor, is doubly excited about it, because the movie will be releasing on his birthday. But remind Cyrus that he was linked with Sonam during the making of Delhi 6 and he says, “One has to understand that the entire team of Delhi 6 was out of Mumbai, on location for about two whole months. We were all hanging out together and the next thing I hear is that Sonam and I are having an affair,” says Cyrus who is happy that the media chose to link him with Sonam and not the other men he used to hang out with. Also, point out to Cyrus that no filmmaker has actually cashed in on his comedy image and has cast him in rather boy next door roles (Rang De Basanti and Delhi 6) and he says, “I’m lucky — the last thing I want is to be typecast as a comedian in films too.”
