I don't like using computer graphics in films: Srijit

Director Srijit Mukherjee said he always tries to avoid using computer graphics in his films and prefers to shoot in real locations.

The filmmaker's upcoming film "Yeti Obhijaan" has been shot at an altitude of 12,000 feet on the Alps.

"I don't have much belief in computer graphics. I want to shun using it altogether, if possible. There can be nothing like shooting in real locations," Srijit told reporters at the trailer launch of the film.

The director said usually in landscape scenes with snowy hills, many directors use computer generated images but the real effect gets lost.

"To my knowledge 'Yeti Obhijaan' is the first such film by an Indian production team and probably one of the firsts in world cinema where the shooting took place on a peak of the Alps at an altitude of 12,000 feet.

"Some of the climax shots were taken in a dome-shaped structure which was built by our production team at a village and flown in a helicopter to the top of the peak," he said.

Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, plays the role of Kakababu, the fictional adventurer, who solves mysteries around the world.

Recalling an experience during shoots, Prosenjit said, "One day at around 12:30 am, we were asked to pack up from the Alps as a storm was approaching. But as it would have taken one and half hours to dismantle all the equipments and fly those back to the base, we were asked to take shelter in a cave made of ice. The local crew buried the equipments under the ice cover."

Srijit added, "To portray him as 'Kakababu' in different and hostile surroundings in an adventure film, a far cry from the genre of my earlier films 'Autograph' or 'Zulfiqar', was a challenge. But you can take such risks with Prosenjit." This is Prosenjit's second outing in the Kakababu series - the first film being "Mishawr Rawhoshyo", which released in 2013.

On playing Kakababu, the actor said, "I don't know if I could bring to life the character as imagined by popular writer Sunil Gangopadhyay but I tried."

"Yeti Obhijaan" will release on September 22.
