David, in a rare tete-a-tete, reveals, “We are going to start shooting by the end of the year. Right now, I am working on the script. We have to make sure the story justifies a sequel. We can’t just work on a sequel to cash in on a successful film. That’s why we waited 18 years to do the sequel.”

The prolific director of countless super hit comedies says he agreed to do Judwaa 2 only for his son’s sake. “I am in this because of my son and my friend producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Sajid and I go back a long way. When Varun was cast in Judwaa 2, I had to direct the sequel.”

David, who went through a couple of health scares recently, is now trying to cut down on his calories. “I am trying not to love food so much anymore. I am again focusing on direction.”

This is a good time to make films. So many different kinds of films are being made for the audience. But one thing remains unchanged. The audience wants entertainment.I’ve always tried to provide entertainment in my films. I am going to try my best to do the same in Judwaa 2.”

David is very proud of both his sons. “Rohit is directing his second film now. As for Varun, he did it all on his own. We don’t show it to him. But we are very proud of him.”
