The actor claims that she has been informed that a major part of the booty recovered from the armed robbers has also gone missing.

The armed robbery took place at Hema’s bungalow in Goregaon when four people broke into her house. One of the robbers, who was arrested later, spilled the beans.

The Unit 12 of the Crime Branch under the supervision of the then joint commissioner of police, Rakesh Maria, reportedly recovered the booty of Rs10 lakh worth of jewellry and a cash stash of Rs40,000. The total worth of valuables stolen from the house was pegged at Rs80 lakh according to police estimates.

“They told me that my jewellry was found, but they never gave it back to me. I have already enquired numerous times, but I never got the valuables back. It’s been more than a year now, but they don’t show any interest in returning my jewellry,” says Hema.

The actor also claims that she has now learnt that her most precious jewellry pieces are not with the police. The former Rajya Sabha MP is now planning to take the case to the higher authorities.

“Jewellry has more of a sentimental value for a woman than the monetary value. I would like to have them back,” Hema says.

When contacted, the police sources confirmed that Hema’s jewellry has not been returned to her, even though they have some of it in their possession. But they said they are ‘planning’ to return it soon.
