Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech will get married on November 30 according to Sikh rituals at a gurudwara in Chandigarh, the cricketer’s hometown. Here, she will wear what a typical Sikh bride wears — a red-and-gold salwar-kameez, the dress must be red as the colour symbolises prosperity and is considered auspiciousness for a newlywed bride.

The outfit will be given to her by her mother-in-law Shabnam Singh, who had it made, along with a heavy ornamental gold necklace called ranihaar. For the reception that night thrown by Shabnam, Hazel will wear a peach-and-gold chiffon sari. JJ Vallaya has designed an outfit for her reception in Delhi on December 7.

Ashley Rebello, who has designed her wedding outfits for Goa and for the mehendi and haldi ceremonies in Chandigarh before the gurudwara wedding, says, “I have known Hazel since Bodyguard and she’s a very close friend. She’s a very homely girl and Yuvraj is blessed to have her.”

He further shares, “For the mehendi and haldi ceremonies, I have designed an off-white lehenga with a plain Benarasi border and a sleeveless kurti with gota work. She’s a very simple girl and wanted something according to her tastes. For the wedding in Goa, I have made a red-and-gold Benarasi sari for her with a zardozi kamarbandh and jewellery by Anmol. She has also taken an indigo-coloured jumpsuit zardozi belt and collar for the reception the next day.”
