'Hangover: Part II' sets new US box office record grossing $31.6 million on opening day

The Hangover Part II has set a new record at the US box office grossing $31.6 million on the very first day of its release in the category of R-rated comedy flicks.The sequel crossed the previous record holder Sex And The City, which opened on a Friday in 2008 with 26.7 million dollars.It is being estimated that if the Hangover pace holds, the movie may earn up to $85 million over the three-day weekend and a whopping $125 million over the five-day Memorial Day holiday, including Thursday.The film starring Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis has earned a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 79% for the 2009 original."It doesn't get much better than this," the New York Post quoted an executive at producer Warner Bros. as telling the Deadline.
