Gul Panag to run Goa River Marathon

Bollywood actress Gul Panag is among the several participants who will run in the annual 'Goa River Marathon' to be held on December 11 in the port town of Vasco.

"Gul Panag who ran in the race last year has confirmed her participation in this year's run too," said Rakesh Unny, secretary of Vasco Sports Club, which has organised the event.

Participants from across nine countries including Kenya, US, France and Japan would be running in the race.

Unny said the participants would be a mix of serious runners and fun runners.

The race would start from Baina beach, a shoreline in Vasco city and the runners would have to pass through the scenic path by the riverfront past the picturesque St Jacinto Island before coming back to the beach, he said.

Events such as half marathon, fun walk run and corporate relay run would also be held during the day, the organisers said.

Unny said proceeds of the event would be donated to two charities - New Dawn Ashadeep Special School and COOJ mental health foundation, both located in the port town.
