Four years back, on March 25, 2012, Charu, who was travelling in a rickshaw along with her sister Ritu and friend Vikrant Goel, was hit by a  speeding Honda City car in the Oshiwara area of Andheri (Mumbai). Charu suffered multiple injuries on her head and spine and was paralysed.

As per a report on SpotboyE, Charu's friend was quoted saying, "I spoke to Charu only two weeks back. She fought her condition very bravely for 4 years." Charu's friend further explained what Charu went through recently, "She had high fever, it was just viral. But she couldn't fight it out because her immunity levels had gone drastically down after the accident, and they hardly rose after that."

The report further adds that Charu's father had to take a loan of over Rs 12 lakh for her treatment. Though Charu was not an employee of Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillied Entertainment, yet he made sure that her medical bills were covered, adds the report.
