The 10th edition of the Marathi Film Festival was inaugurated in Panaji on Friday at the hands of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and noted Bollywood actor Divya Dutta were present.

"We will ask theatres in Goa to reserve slots for regional cinema. We need to support our own," said Parrikar during his inaugural speech.

Marathi actor Sai Tamhankar will be awarded the 'Face of the Year' award while veteran actor Sachin Pilgaonkar will be honoured with the 'Krutadnyata award'. Nagesh Bhosle's Sanchar, and Girish Joshi's Take Care, Good Night will premiere at the festival. Marathi films like Ventilator, Muramba, Oli ki Suki, Chi va Chi Sau Ka, Disha, Kasav will be screened over next three days. Mahesh Manjrekar's F.U. will also have two shows during the festival.

  • The festival opened with Gajendra Ahire's Kulkarni Chaukatla Deshpande and will conclude with Girish Joshi's Take Care, Good Night.  
  • The three-day festival, which will have screenings of 20 films, will conclude on June 18.
