Genelia D’Souza says 'love ho gaya' to Riteish Deshmukh

Bollywood seems to have fallen back on track with innumerable films being launched every week and when it comes to the business of film-making, any news makes for good news. Kumar Taurani of Tips Industries is one such person who prefers to look at the positive side of any news his film makes.

Their latest offering Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, being directed by Mandeep Kumar (who’s debuting in the Hindi film category), has constantly been in the news what with actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza pairing up on screen after a gap of seven years.

They made their debut together in Bollywood in Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003 and were last seen together in Masti in 2004.

Over the years, though they didn’t work together, their alleged off-screen romance seems to be making news more than anything else. And as they shot for Tere… in Patiala and Manali, all that seemed to interest anyone and everyone was the pair.

Quiz Kumar on whether that worries him and he says, “What matters to me is my film. Do you think any producer would zero in on his lead pair and pump in money on a project just because of their off-screen chemistry and comfort?” But, at the same time, he does agree that these days, with the number of films being made, it’s very important to be spoken about.

“Both Riteish and Genelia are wonderful people and talented actors. And yes, if they are being spoken about, I don’t see how that doesn’t hold good for my film — after all, it’s Tere… that brings them together on screen,” he questions.

Almost 90% of the film has been shot and the producers are looking at a release next year. In fact, while shooting in Manali, the two actors got the rumour mills abuzz having been spotted often trying to steal some quiet moments together — be it in the valleys of Kothi or catching up on films at the Piccadilly Circus Theatre or a quiet dinner at Johnsons Café. Kumar informs that his reason to sign the pair was purely professional.

“We needed a girl who was lively and vivacious and Genelia fitted the role perfectly — something like Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met and Anushka Sharma in Band Bajaa Baarat,” he says, adding, “As for Riteish, his simple, boy-next-door charm is a winner.”
