New Zealand actor Joe Naufahu has been roped in for a recurring role in the sixth season of the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones.

The details of Naufahu's role in the upcoming venture are still under wraps and the actor has booked for a 're-occurring arc' on the show, Deadline.com reports.

The American drama series, which is filming scenes for the new season across Spain, will also star Ian McShane, Max van Sydow and Richard E. Grant among others.

Earlier, Author George RR Martin, whose fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire has been adapted into a TV show, trashed the rumours of turning the popular drama into a film.
