'Furious 7' debuts with record $143 million at US weekend box-office

'Furious 7' has smashed the weekend box-office records by cashing-in more than 143 million dollars at the weekend domestic box-office, it has been reported.The thrilling car action movie, directed by James Wan and produced by Neal Moritz and Vin Diesel, revs to the biggest April opening ever with the highest opening ever and best Friday 'Fast and Furious7' and Saturday for the Universal Pictures, Deadline.com reported.Nick Carpou, Universal Pictures' president of domestic distribution, said that originally, they planned to release the picture last July, but that wasn't going to happen, so they thought of April because opening on Good Friday has proven historically to be a very good thing to do.Dreamworks Animation's 'Home', on the other hand, came at second spot with 94.9 million dollars and Warner Bros.' 'Get Hard' secured the third spot with 56.7 million dollars earnings at the US weekend box-office.'Furious 7' also opens as the ninth-highest film in history behind other well-known franchises such as 'Harry Potter', 'The Avengers', 'Iron Man' and the 'Twilight Saga'.
