'Furious 7' box office collection: Paul Walker’s last film expected to be the biggest opener in India this year
Though the official figures aren’t out, trade experts are confident that Furious 7 is going to re-write box office history in India as far as Hollywood releases are concerned…
Late Paul Walker and Vin Diesel’s latest outing Furious 7 has hit the screens. The much-awaited action thriller released yesterday and if what I have heard is true then the newest instalment of Fast and Furious franchise is all set to break records at the Indian box office. Considering Furious 7 has released in 2300 screens which is the widest release for any Hollywood flick in India, this piece of information shouldn’t be surprising. While the opening day figures will be out shorty, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted a while back, “#FastAndFurious7 all set to emerge BIGGEST opener [Hollywood films] in India. Also, HIGHEST opener of 2015, overtaking Hindi films.”
Trade portal Boxofficeindia.com reported, “Fast & Furious 7 broke all box office records for Hollywood releases by a distance as it took a an excellent opening of around 60% and held well through the day. The film was a full release at multiplexes while more single screens should be added today. The first day figures may come in at around the 10 crore nett mark depending on the release of the Tamil and Telugu versions which are primarily single screen releases. Fast & Furious 7 had better collections than Roy at multiplexes all over the country which is the biggest Hindi opener this year.”
Well, going by these predictions it certainly seems Furious 7 has stormed the Indian box office. Now let’s wait for the first day figures to come out!
