Sachin Tendulkar took a back seat from cricket after an enviable international career that saw him score 15,921 runs in Tests, at an average of 53.78, and 18426 runs in 463 ODIs at an average of 44.83. He had scored 100 centuries during his international with Test matches making up for 51 of those, the most by any batsman in the world.

The cricket fraternity today took to Twitter to wish the god of Indian cricket, with players of the Indian cricket team, Mumbai Indians squad and legendary cricketers across the globe tweeting their warm wishes to the cricketing icon. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kholi were among the several wishers, calling him the 'inspiration' for them to play the game.

Sachin, who started his 41st birthday by casting his vote in the general elections, wrote "I have voted, have you? A wonderful start to my birthday, as a responsible citizen of our great nation," on his Twitter page.

Tendulkar came back from the UAE, where IPL 7 is going on, according to sources close to him, and is celebrating his birthday with family and friends in the city.

Varun Dhawan, son of the king of comedy David Dhawan, celebrates his 27th birthday today. Varun also started the day by voting. After getting inked, he posted his photograph on Twitter and urged his followers to do the same.

"I just voted. Have you? Be serious, get off your a** and go vote," he tweeted.
