Majority of our interpersonal communications take place through technology with Facebook, Twitter, Whats App becoming an integral part of our lives. Consequently, face-to-face communication is fading rapidly (this has rippled to such an extent that some people seem so interesting and fun to converse with online, and seem unimaginative and boring in real life!). Our busy lives barely leave us time to meet people. In order to foster the spirit of community feeling and bring more people to interact with each other, the city is mushrooming with various events like art, culture, music events, pop-ups, etc. One such event happening this weekend in the city is the Chai Community.

The Chai Community is the brain child of Shreya Naik of Dream Makers Entertainment, an artist management and events company. "Today, everybody talks via email and social networking websites. I want to foster this community feeling in Mumbai. I like the concept of tea parties and here at the Chai Community, friends can bring their friends along too. It's a safe space to meet new people from different walks of life and interact with them. It's a face-to-face offline communication channel," says Naik.

This time it's the fourth edition, and this event takes place once in two months. Also, this time besides the chai, there will be food curated by Sim's Kitchen and Eighth. And if you thought this event is aimed at young professionals who purely wish to network, then you're mistaken. Naik says that the Chai Community is meant for families too, as it's a kids-friendly environment. Here kids will be exposed to a an enriching social setting. Besides this, the event is a great for entrepreneurs to talk about their ventures. That way, the event on the while is a win-win for everybody.
