First looks make big impressions

John Abraham showed his daredevil streak and climbed up a four-storied billboard recently to unveil the first look of his forthcoming film.

Mallika Sherawat too is planning to get a snake as a companion at the unveiling of her film.

With budgets for premieres  shrinking, filmmakers are turning the unveiling into lavish events. 

Many attribute this to the successful marketing of 3 Idiots last year. Others like Dabangg, Jhootha Hi Sahi, Action Replayy, Guzaarish have followed suit.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra points out that this has much to do with the multiplex culture. “The first look makes a huge impact on the audiences. It generates curiousity. After all the film-goers want value for their money.”

Filmmakers Vipul Shah, Madhu Mantena and Ronnie Screwvala, who recently unveiled the first looks of their films agree. “If they are hooked to the first look, then you know you have a winner at hand,” says Vipul.

Ronnie too agrees. “The first look sets the ball rolling out of our bags and onto the courts . It’s an important event, so it should be celebrated as one,” he explains. Seems like Bollywood’s woken up to the adage of ‘first impression makes a lasting impression’, and are now making the most of it.
