First cut for Konkona Sen Sharma

At a time when the newly-wedded couple should be enjoying their honeymoon in Switzerland, actor Konkona Sen Sharma has proved to be exactly the opposite.

She is in fact, is getting ready to showcase the first film that she had made at a niche film festival in New York. Sources say that Konkona has lined up a slew of activities that will keep her busy all along October.

“Konkona was in the city for her play The Blue Mug that was recently staged at Prithvi Theatre. She has just taken her flight to New York where she is going to attend a film festival called I View Engendered,” says her spokesperson. After Hrs had previously reported that a whole lot from the Bollywood brigade will be attending the I View... festival.

“Konkona has three reasons to be there: her film Mirch (yet to be released) will be screened along with her other film, The President Is Coming will also be screened,” her spokesperson informs.
According to sources, Konkona had secretly directed a short film in Bengali about two years back and finally she is ready to showcase the film to the world. “The film was made two years back but she had put it on the backburner for reasons best known to her. But the best part is that she has done the editing herself and she is finally ready to showcase her film,” says the source.

The film is not a full-length film but a short 17-minute film according to sources. “The final cut of the film has brought it down to only 17 minutes but considering that it is her first film, the film is obviously very special to her. The film is called Namkoron and Konkona would be showcasing the Bengali film at the film festival. It’s another reason for Konkona to celebrate,” the source adds.

The news was also confirmed by Konkona’s spokesperson.
“Sorry, Konkona won’t be immediately coming back to Mumbai after the festival. As the schedule stands now, she and her mother (Aparna Sen) will be visiting her sister (Kamalini Sen) in Cincinnati, US before coming back to Mumbai.
