Farah Khan at war against piracy

After an appeal from film-maker Farah Khan and on the directions of home minister RR Patil, the Mumbai police has formed a special team that is tracking any “leak” from the master-print of her much-hyped forthcoming film starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Former anti-terrorist chief AA Khan (who inspired an earlier hit Shootout at Lokhandwala) will be acting as an enforcement consultant.

“Nobody wants a re-run of the What’s Your Rashee? situation where the film was leaked out from the master-print itself (two people were arrested in connection with the case). Farah along with her team is putting pressure on pirates across India. Our AACT enforcement team (an organisation formed against piracy with support from Bollywood film-makers) is working with the police department to make sure that there would be no pirated DVDs and inlay cards in various cities around the release. In fact, anybody seen in possession of the film’s pirated DVDs/CDs will be booked under Copyright Act 1957,” informs a source, adding, “The enforcement teams have planned raids at various locations across India to seize pirated goods like inlay cards, DVD writers and other equipment.”

Farah confirmed that such an effort it is one of the biggest efforts against piracy undertaken with help from the Mumbai police. “Our enforcement team is keeping a close eye on pirates across India,” she says.

According to AA Khan, the film has a big demand in the black market. “It is a big budget film and we are estimating a strong, widespread network of pirates. The first week for any new release is crucial for collections and hence, our team has strategically planned its counter attack to curb piracy,” informed Khan.
