Buzz of Naga Chaitanya's next with RX 100 director Ajay Bhupathi had begun doing the rounds but it looks like things haven’t quite worked out.
The year 2019 started off on a great note for Telugu star Naga Chaitanya with the success of Majili in which he co-starred with wife and actress Samantha who was one of the female leads alongside Divyansha Kaushik. While he hasn’t been in a great phase professionally, the buzz of his next with RX 100 director Ajay Bhupathi had begun doing the rounds around this time. But it looks like things haven’t quite worked out. A reliable source in the know tells us that things aren’t going as planned and the film may not happen.
It is learnt that after several deliberations and discussions things haven’t gone to the next level. “Director Ajay had an interesting script in hand which Naga Chaitanya really loved when initially narrated. He asked to work on it a little further because he really liked the character of an intense cop. He was to play a cop in an intense drama where he’d be pitted against a gangster. After discussing and reworking on the script for a while, things didn’t materialize,” a source in the know shared with DNA.
To be titled Mahasamudram, the film was initially rumoured to star Nithiin, later Ram and eventually Bellamkonda Srinivas too, before going to Naga Chaitanya. But it looks like with this not working the directed has decided to not go ahead with the project at this moment. Interestingly, the buzz was that Samantha was to pair up with Chay again for this film.
The source adds, “After meeting several actors the film hasn’t worked out and so at this moment Ajay has decided to put this project on a backburner. It would be safe to say the project is now shelved. He will be concentrating on a new film that will be female-centric.”
Gemini Kiran was to bankroll the cop drama but it is not clear who will bankroll his new film.
