After a very long wait, director SS Rajamouli finally unveiled details of his upcoming film RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the leads, in a recently held press conference in Hyderabad. The inclusion of Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in the film has given rise to a great deal of interest surrounding the film.

At the press meet when a reporter asked about casting Ajay Devgn as an antagonist, SS Rajamouli responded with a laugh, “So, you are assuming that he plays a negative character, is it?” To which the reporter asked, “Is he not?”. Rajamouli replied, “Of course, I won’t tell you.”

But soon after, it has become quite clear and has emerged that the actor will not be playing an antagonists role. Despite being tight-lipped about the character in the film, some news has finally reached us and there are some details that are now doing the rounds as far as Ajay Devgn’s character is concerned.

“While the film sees Jr NTR and Ram Charan as Telugu freedom fighters, a major part of the story will pan out in New Delhi where Ajay’s character comes in. Apparently, the Bollywood star has been roped in to play a freedom fighter of those times,” a source shared with DNA, refusing to divulge any other details.

It is learnt that Ajay was initially apprehensive about playing the part in RRR. “He wasn’t sure because the part is not very long. It is almost like an extended cameo and he wasn’t sure about doing it. But after a narration from Rajamouli, he got excited. It was also one reason why Ajay initially had given a statement saying he wasn’t doing the film at all. Things worked out eventually,” adds the source.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Alia Bhatt will begin shooting for RRR in April where she will shoot for a couple of scenes alongside Ram Charan. Produced by D.V.V. Danayya who is bankrolling the film on his DVV Entertainments banner, the film will hit the screens on July 30, 2020 and is set to have a large release across pan-India languages.
