This year Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are rather special for actor Tusshar Kapoor, as he reveals that this time around dad, actor Jeetendra handed over the baton to him to do the sthapna of the idol at home. “It’s a new beginning for me, as dad asked me to do the puja and sthapna. So I do the morning aartis, while dad does the puja in the evenings,” shares the actor. And as After Hrs caught up with Tusshar when he dropped by to seek blessings at DNA eco Ganesha, he adds that it’s heartening to see the cause being taken up on this huge a scale. “I think the importance and awareness about making the celebrations as eco-friendly as possible is constantly increasing thanks to such initiatives like the one DNA has undertaken,” he said.
The actor, who feels strongly for the cause, insists that one should make efforts to save and protect the environment in every way possible. Emphasising its importance, he adds, “It’s impossible to separate nature from God, so it becomes all the more important that we protect the environment which is just as sacred. And what better way to celebrate Bappa’s homecoming than making it as environment friendly as possible. I am sure this is what would make Bappa really happy too.”
Talking about the festival, Tusshar says that it brings back fond memories from his childhood days. “We’ve always been bringing Him home and the roli-poli Bappa has always has been an integral part of our lives. There’s so much excitement in the house as it buzzes with the festivities and friends and devotees drop by for Bappa’s darshan. Even when you step out of the house, the entire city is seen celebrating just as enthusiastically. For me it’s one of the few times when I let my diet go for a toss as I gorge on modaks, which is an all-time personal favourite,” adds the actor.
“Like every year, this time too I am praying for health and happiness for all my loved ones and also I hope and pray that Bappa does something to help eradicate corruption from our country for good,” smiles Tusshar.
