Don't need parental attitude towards audience: Kangana Ranaut

Actress Kangana Ranaut has backed the makers of Udta Punjab, which is embroiled in a censorship battle, saying the censor board is bullying filmmakers and called for an end to "parental attitude towards the audience".

"We have been very concerned with the way things are going. I am not a director, I have never been through the process. But my very close friends and people I closely work with seem extremely disturbed with the way things are; to an extent they feel bullied," Kangana said.

The actress said it is high time that people stop having this parental attitude towards the audience.

"I would support them. They are legitimate artistes. They know the process of certification. Its not censorship. We don't have to have that parental attitude towards the audience."

The three-time National award-winning actress said her 2014 film "Queen" had also run into trouble with the CBFC after it objected to a scene involving the women's undergarment.

"In my film 'Queen', there was a funny moment with the bra. My director called and said they are blurring the bra. They said it is vulgar. Our director was furious about it. We are artistes... We see props as they are. A woman's bra is not a danger to the society," she said.

The actress received the 'CNN-News18 Indian of the Year, 2015 - Special Achievement' award.
