Along with Dippy, Sanjay has also roped in Ranveer to play Alauddin Khilji in his next magnum opus. But many reports suggest that Kangana Ranaut was trying to discuss the possibilities of playing the lead in Padmavati with the film's director.

Kangana and Deepika's rivalry is known to all and the two have publicly snubbed each other at various occasions. Last year, we heard how DP was vying for Kangana's role in Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon. Now, it's Kangana who was sending feelers to SLB thinking that he might cast her as the lead.

Many reports also mention that despite knowing that Deepika has been finalised for the role, Kangana tried talking it out with Bhansali and even went to the extent of telling him point blank that she wanted the film. Bhansali who felt Kangana didn't suit the part wasn't too keen on signing her.
