Chhota Rajan arrested: Home Minister Rajnath Singh thanks Interpol and Indonesian govt

On Monday, CBI director Anil Sinha confirmed that Chhota Rajan was indeed arrested on Sunday night by Bali Police.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has thanked the Interpol and Indonesian government for assisting in arresting fugitive Chhota Rajan who wanted over a series of murders.

"India was active on this case, post verification investigation will be taken forward. I want to thank Interpol and Indonesian government for this," Singh said.  

MoS Home Kiren Rijiju said, "There is a close coordination between India, Australia and Indonesia in this matter. CBI is the nodal agency for Interpol in India. Now, the further process will be taken forward by CBI."

On Monday, CBI director Anil Sinha confirmed that Chhota Rajan was indeed arrested on Sunday night by Bali Police. 

"Bali Police arrested Chhota Rajan yesterday at CBI's request made through Interpol," said CBI Director Anil Sinha on Monday. 

Acting on a tip-off from Australian police, Indonesian authorities detained Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje, alias 'Chhota Rajan' on Sunday night as he arrived in the popular resort island of Bali from Sydney, Bali police spokesman Heri Wiyanto told AFP.
