Bollywood on high alert

With Mumbai on high alert following the blast in Varanasi,  sources state that the Mumbai police department has offered security advice to Bollywood stars and told them to tighten  their security.“We provide security to a handful of Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, but there are a few other stars who are not covered by us. We are concerned as a strike on any one of the Bollywood stars would be seen as an attack on the city of Mumbai, if not on the country,” says a source.The Mumbai police top brass is close to a few Bollywood stars as they regularly perform for the Mumbai police annual bash free of cost. Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif top the list, and any harm to them will send shock-waves across the nation.“These days, the terrorists don’t declare targets as they used to do in the past. It cannot be ruled out that that they would grab headlines around the world  if they harm Bollywood  stars. It is impossible for the police force to provide security details to every Bollywood star. So in this case, self-help is the best help,” the source adds.According to Mumbai police sources, the police have offered to provide “key inputs” to stars who will be performing at various hotels during the festive season.“The stars can avail of the option to pay the police department for additional security, and the police will be glad to do so. In many cases, hiring an armed security personnel is sometimes not feasible but there can be some preventive measures that can prevent any mishap. The police want to ensure that,” the source adds.Several Bollywood stars admitted off the record that they have received calls from the police about being more careful and some will be even meeting the top brass informally to discuss on the matter.
