The crème de la crème of India’s show business has jetted out to the scenic island of Mauritius for the Zee Cine Awards 2006 being held tonight. Since yesterday, special air Mauritius flights have jetted everyone - from the top notch names, to the new hotties on the block and senior as well as gifted technocrats of Mumbai’s film world.
Tonight: The Zee Cine Awards, which will be telecast live today from 7.30 pm on Zee TV, will feature some of the most outstanding performers of Bollywood entertainment. The grand line-up includes Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra and many others. The show will be anchored, among others, by Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal, Konkona Sen Sharma, Dia Mirza and Gulshan Grover.
Warmed up: Mauritians are keenly anticipating the event and had welcomed the stars with gusto at the airport and frenzy for the stars was evident in the air. Preparations and rehearsals were in the full swing at the commodious venue.
Meanwhile, the technical awards decided by an eminent panel of film experts have been announced. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black has bagged five awards, with Paheli getting three and Parineeta and Bunty Bubli two each.
The competition was particularly intense in the Best Story category, with such nominations as Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Iqbal and Apaharan.
