The Sherlock star, who has bagged the Best Actor Academy Award nod for the movie, asserted that to ring his parents who are both actors and tell them that their only son has been nominated for an Oscar is one of the proudest moments of his life, the Mirror reported.
The British actor said that he was so excited and honoured to receive this recognition and it is wonderful to be included by the academy in this exceptional year of performances.
The Academy Awards will be held on February 22 in Hollywood's Dolby Theatre and will be hosted by TV and film actor Neil Patrick Harris.
