Music composer Bappi Lahiri has sent a legal notice to producers of an Ajay Devgn-Kajol starrer on December 17, for spoofing him in the forthcoming animation film.
“Bappi stated in the notice that he checked the website (of the film) after his daughter’s friend informed him of a character ‘Guppy’ based on him in the film. He took the step to send a legal notice on realising that the character of ‘Guppy’ mimics him completely,” says a source.
‘Guppy’ is described as a ‘cacophonic singer in the group (who) has a compulsive urge to sing which gets the group into trouble frequently. The Devtoons...are fed up of his singing.’
The musician as well as the spokespersons for the film confirmed the legal notice. While Bappi is adamant that the character be changed, Ajay Devgn and the producers of the film have apparently called for an emergency meeting to sort out the issue. “The producers will get in touch with him (Bappi) to help him understand a few points. The film is complete, and it’s difficult to make changes at this point, especially when the character is an intrinsic part of the film. The producers have tremendous regard for Bappida and would never show him in a poor light,” added the source.
