The actor and father talk about the bond they share with Lord Ganesha as they seek blessings for their upcoming film.
Actor Jackky Bhagnani who recently wrapped up the shoot of his romcom Ajab Gazabb Love immediately got busy with his next film in Mysore. But he did take two days off and came back home in time to catch the Ganesha festivities, before flying out again.
“I’m a firm believer in Bappa and we look forward each year to bring him home. I’d rather be home than anywhere else in the world for the celebrations. The entire ambience of the city is so festive around this time, all thanks to Bappa who brings so much joy when he comes home,” says Jackky, as he visited the DNA eco-friendly Ganesha pandals across the city as part of the Ashtavinayak darshan with dad, producer Vashu Bhagnani and co-star Nidhi Subbaiah.
“I think what makes it really special for the city is that it’s such a secular festival. And anything that unites people is something to celebrate, besides the fact that it’s homecoming of Bappa, who is such a beloved God,” adds Jackky.
But in all the celebrations, Vashu is all praises for the DNA eco-friendly Ganesha campaign too. “We think that we all should imbibe an awareness for our environment in our children. We all believe and wholly support the cause of saving and doing our bit for the environment,” says Bhagnani Sr.
So, as the trio pay their respects to Ganesha, we ask them what they’re praying for? “Well, peace and happiness for everyone,” they say. As for their film which also happens to release on yet another auspicious day, Dassera on October 24, Vashu says that they are sure that they have Bappa’s blessings for the film.
“Bappa’s always been there for us, and we are sure that the film will also be blessed by him,” says Jackky, who plays a rich brat pretending to be poor just to woo his lady love played by Nidhi. “It’s a full-on comedy of errors with fun punches and lots of entertaining moments for the entire family,” adds Vashu about his film that will be directed by Sanjay Gadhvi (of Dhoom fame).
Talking about the music — which has always been a strong point of their films — Vashu adds that this one will be no different.
“Songs like Boom Boom, that has already caught on and another one that will be released in the presence of Bappa, are all superb foot-tapping numbers. And apart from the music, the director, the script and the actors are all the USP of the film,” says the noted producer.
So, is Jackky praying for a hit in this one too? “I just want the people to enjoy the film and think that it was paisa vasool for them. Business, success... all that will follow. I will pray to Bappa to keep me focussed on hard work than the perks,” smiles the Ganapati bhakt.
