Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan-starrer Vidaamuyarchi will not be released on Pongal 2025.
The makers of the highly anticipated Tamil action thriller Vidaamuyarchi, fronted by Ajith Kumar, have postponed its release due to "unavoidable circumstances." Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the film was earlier scheduled to be released on Pongal 2025. It also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, and Regina Cassandra.
Lyca Productions, the banner behind Vidaamuyarchi, shared the update on its official X page on Tuesday night. "Wishing everyone a Happy New Year 2025! Due to unavoidable circumstances, the release of VIDAAMUYARCHI is postponed from PONGAL! Kindly stay tuned for further updates! The wait will be worth it! #Vidaamuyarchi #HappyNewYear," the production house said in the post.

After the film was announced in May 2023, Ajith Kumar's fans were looking forward to finally see the film on Pongal. With its release getting postponed, fans have expressed their anger on the production house. One of them wrote, "Respected Narendra Modi and MK Stalin Sir, This is a humble petition from all AjithKumar fans to permanently ban Lyca Productions from India. They don't deserve to produce any movie", while anothe added, "At least you should have told this after a few days; you just spoiled AK fans' New Year celebration mood."
Apart from Vidaamuyarchi, Ajith Kumar has another film lined up for release titled Good Bad Ugly. Also starring Trisha Krishnan, Prabhu, Prasanna, Arjun Das, Sunil, Rahul Dev and Yogi Babu, the action thriller is directed by Adhik Ravichandran. The production house Mythri Movie Makers were initially planning to release Good Bad Ugly on Pongal 2025, but when Lyca Prodyctions announced Vidaamuyarchi's release date, they changed their decision. Now, both the films are postponed leaving Ajith Kumar fans frustrated.
