SS Rajamouli's magnum opus and much ambitious Baahubali hit screens on July 10. Spectacular visual effects and an engrossing story catapulted Baahubali to become one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian cinema. Made on a lavish budget, the film which initially came across as a risk has already turned a profitable venture for all its investors. On the other hand, you had Bollywood's Bhaijaan coming up with yet another blockbuster this Eid. Bajrangi Bhaijaan, laced with an emotional plot and some terrific performances zoomed its way into the 300 crore club at the domestic box office almost easily and took the overseas box office by a storm as well.

While the first half of 2015 hardly had a string of heavyweight blockbusters, barring a few films which kept bringing in the moolah, Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan gave a nice start to the second half of 2015. How? From January to July, the industry only saw two hundred crore films- Tanu Weds Manu Returns and ABCD 2 and a few surprise hits (Piku, Badlapur, NH10) here and there. Most films failed to bring in expected revenue until Baahubali and BB hit the screens.

Bot the films that released last month has cumulatively helped upped the revenue return for the industry as a whole. Collectively, the two have already grossed over Rs 1000 crore and brought the much needed revenue for the industry as a whole. Strikingly, Baahubali released a week before BB but has managed to consistently bring in amazing collections for the last one month. Having said that, there's also a clash of the titans that took place at the box office.

Baahubali and BB went head to head against each other at the box office battle and here's the lowdown of who won eventually!

The Budget!

Baahubali has been made on a lavish budget of over Rs 250 crore and is possibly the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. On the contrary, BB is a moderately budgeted film and cost around Rs 75 crore, which is almost one-third of Baahubali's production cost.

Screens!

Both Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan had almost the same number of screens, that is, over 5000 screens worldwide.

Domestic battle!

Baahubali has already had a lifetime run of 28 days ever since its release whereas Bajrangi Bhaijaan has completed three weeks post its theatrical release. The Hindi version of Baahubali alone has crossed the Rs 100 crore bracket at the Indian box office. If you consider all its versions, Baahubali has netted something over the Rs 250 crore mark at the Indian box office. Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which released only in Hindi has already shattered all pre-existing records and raced into the Rs 300 crore club effortlessly. So, if you consider the domestic box office battle, it's Bajrangi who's beaten Baahubali by a huge margin.

Worldwide battle!

Salman's film has not only won hearts in the country but has also touched a billion lives across the globe. the film has performed exceedingly well at the global box office, bringing in insane figures from the overseas market. Undoubtedly, BB is Salman's biggest film till date, both in India and abroad. While in India itself, the film has raked in around Rs 300 crore, the film has overall grossed over Rs 550 crore worldwide already. And that in a matter of three weeks. Baahubali, on the other hand has also crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the world wide box office and now stands at a whopping total of Rs 515 crore gross, just about Rs 35 crores behind Bajrangi. But there's one difference. Baahubali has collected this in its four weeks of run and will soon complete its lifetime run whereas BB is expected to run in screens for more than a week and will add in more moolah to its kitty. So, like the domestic battle, Bajrangi has triumphed over Baahubali at the global box office battle as well.

Nevertheless, it would only be right to appreciate both the film, given that their fantastic run at the cash registers has ensured a steady flow of revenue for the industry as a whole. So despite Bajrangi Bhaijaan surpassing Baahubali by a few miles, both the films have equally looted hearts worldwide.
