Original Actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Cate Blanchett took home the leading actor and actress award, respectively, at the 2014 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards held here on Sunday.Blanchett received the trophy for her role of a rich Manhattan socialite in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine" and Ejiofor won the award for his performance in "12 Years A Slave", reports mirror.co.uk.Blanchett dedicated her win to Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died earlier this month in New York, calling him "a continual profound touchstone".The best film award went to "12 Years A Slave" and outstanding British film trophy went to "Gravity" for which Alfonso Cuarón got the best director award.Jennifer Lawrence won the best supporting actress for "American Hustle", while Barkhad Abdi received the best supporting actor trophy for "Captain Phillips".Veteran actress Dame Helen Mirren was given BAFTA's highest accolade, a fellowship.
