On Thursday afternoon, something unusual happened on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati sets in Jaipur. The team which was camping in the pink city to shoot portions of the period film was attacked by a group of activists who claimed to belong to the Karni Sena.

The set was vandalised, equipments broken and director SLB was slapped and humiliated in front of everyone. Although police later took charge, the damage was already done by then. The news of the assault spread like wild fire and a shocking video from the attack too started doing the rounds on social media.

The entire industry has come out and voiced their support for SLB and team. All of them - from directors Karan Johar, Ram Gopal Verma, Mahesh Bhatt and Anurag Kashyap to actors Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon and others - have condemned this act of hooliganism.

But what's surprising is that the lead cast of Padmavati has maintained a baffling silence on the whole issue. At a time when the whole film fraternity has joined hands and raised this as an issue to be taken care of, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor who play the leading characters in the period film have not responded or reacted to the whole fiasco. It's surprising given that they were also supposed to begin shoot in Jaipur and were saved by a whisker. Reportedly, the attack happened just before the three actors had their call times on the sets.

But why the three stars have maintained a stoic silence on the issue is not known to anyone.
