Astha Choudhary replaces Jayashree in 'Niyati'

Niyati, the long running primetime soap on Sahara One is all set to take a 16-year leap. Not only will there be a change in the storyline, even the protagonist is changing. Jayashree Soni who was playing the title role is being replaced by Astha Choudhary. Jayashree’s character will die in the serial and her place will be taken by her daughter whom she will rename Niyati! Producer Dheeraj Kumar says that after 500 episodes audiences  look for a fresh storyline.“It is a creative call,” he adds. Also, with more cities from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar coming under the ratings purview, Kumar has decided to set the new story in Lucknow. Unlike Jayashree’s Niyati who was a housewife, Astha’s Niyati will be an IPS officer and juggle between her domestic and professional life. The serial post the leap will start airing from March 18.
