Will he? Won’t he? There have been many speculations about Gautham Menon, arguably one of Kollywood’s top most directors, coming to Sandalwood. Finally, the maker himself confirms it to DNA, saying that he is indeed planning a film with Puneet Rajkumar.
“Yes, it is true. I have been having discussions with Puneet for a project. This is a project that I intend to make in Tamil and Kannada, with two separate sets of cast of course. We’re in the initial stages of discussions of course,” says Gautham, who seems to be extremely upbeat about finally entering Sandalwood.
He further adds, about the project, “We should tentatively get rolling by the end of this year, ideally if things work out as per our plans. This will be an interesting project to start work on, considering Puneet is as big as it gets in Sandalwood.”
Puneet, who is yet to finish work on Hudugru and Paramathma, will most likely be taking on this project after that. The only other tentative project that’s been spoken about is Suri’s Anna Bond.
The news of this film with Gautham being on the cards was hinted at on Puneet’s 36th birthday when the actor said that there is a big movie with a big film-maker from Tamil Nadu on the cards. Sources close to Puneet even say that the film has been titled Episode # 3 and is supposed to be a stylish flick with the trademark Gautham Menon touch.
Gautham previously was supposed to have entered the Kannada film industry with a remake of his hugely successful film Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya. Ramya, who is his close friend and has acted in his Tamil film Varanam Aayiram, was supposed to have acted in this film. Gautham who was in town for the launch of Dhandam Dashagunam, a remake of his film Kaakha Kaakha, last year, also had said he would be producing that film. It remains to see what happens of that project.
