Anne Hathaway has apologized to Italian designer, Valentino, for switching his Oscar dress at the last minute for a Prada gown.

She told People magazine that it came to her attention late on Saturday night that a dress would be worn to the Oscars, which was remarkably similar to the Valentino, which she had intended to wear, so she decided that for all involved it was best to change her plans.

She said that though she loves the dress she wore to the event, it was a difficult last minute decision, as she had looked forward to wearing Valentino in honour of the deep and meaningful relationship that she has enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself.

She added that she deeply regrets any disappointment that she caused.
