South actor Anil Nedumangad, best known for his performances in 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum', 'Kammatti Paadam', 'Njan Steve Lopez' and 'Porinju Mariyam Jose', breathed his last on Friday.

As per reports, in a tragic incident, Nedumangad, 48, drowned while bathing in Kerala's Malankara Dam. 

According to reports, Nedumangad was shooting for 'Peace' starring Joju George in Thodupuzha. As the cast and crew of the film took an interval, Anil Nedumangad and a few friends went to bathe in the dam. 

While everyone else was bathing, it is being reported that Nedumangad went into the deep end and got pulled under strong currents and lost his life due to drowning. 

Soon after, when his friends noticed him missing, a search operation was launched and Nedumangad was pulled out with the help of rescue workers. However, when he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, they declared him 'brought dead'. 

Indian film actor, producer, director and singer, who works primarily in Malayalam cinema, Prithviraj Sukumaran, confirmed the news of Nedumangad death via a Facebook post. 

On his verified Facebook handle, alongside a photo of the late actor, Sukumaran wrote, "Nothing. I have nothing to say. Hope you’re at peace Anil etta." He followed it up with a broken heart emoji.

For the unversed, Nedumangad made his debut in 'Thaskaraveeran'. However, it was not a credited appearance.  His major role as an actor was in the 2014 film 'Njan Steve Lopez' directed by Rajeev Ravi.

He was last seen in 2020 film 'Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte'.
